I completed a Nature Sketching course at Syn Studio in Montreal, and one of our assignments was to draw an imaginary creature. I love wolves, so that aspect of the drawing was obvious. I liked the idea of crossing worlds – terrestrial, aquatic, aerial. And of being unlimited and transformable. How could the wolf best catch the salmon, and how might the salmon like to escape? Seals and wolves aren’t that distance after all, and fish have been known to leap clear of the water.
