In another life I was a research scientist; after gaining a PhD in evolutionary biology from the University of Sheffield, I travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to embark on postdoctoral research for the Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Network.

Like the zebra mussels, green crabs and other ‘hit list’ invaders, I took very well to my new environment. I have always been passionate about art, but Montreal somehow nurtured my creativity in an inexorable way. Swept along with the tide, I was taken to a new world, filled with talking birds, intelligent plants and mythical creatures.

Art and science are usually treated as separate fields. Here I aim to unite my scientific expertise, love of nature, creative skills and adventurous imagination.
